Bennett '˜not going anywhere'

A report in the Australian media linking England coach Wayne Bennett with the Wigan job next year appears to be wide of the mark if Brisbane chief executive Paul White is to be believed.

Wayne Bennett was linked with Wigan by one media organisation

White told the Broncos website: “Wayne Bennett is our coach for 2019. I’ve been totally consistent with that and nothing has changed. I can state categorically Wayne will be our coach in 2019.”

Wigan are hunting a replacement for Shaun Wane for 2019.

Wane is open to offers as he seeks a fresh challenge and World Cup-winner Will Greenwood believes he could be a surprise candidate for the vacant role as England RU defence coach.

Greenwood told Sky Sports News: “I’ve been to watch him train at Wigan, the systems they have are in place all the way down from the academy to the senior team.

“Scott Quinell tells me they are just an awesome defensive machine because he gets them so well drilled and organised.

“It’s massively left-field but it’s not inconceivable that Eddie might go ‘I’m the top guy but I want someone to come in with some new ideas’.”

National boss Eddie Jones was at the DW Stadium for a Warriors game earlier this year and Wane has not ruled out a move into the 15-a-side code.
