Dragons chief executive Christophe Jouffret admits they are keeping tabs on the Kiwi centre, who left Wigan at the end of last season to return home to New Zealand.

He later penned a one-year deal with the NZ Warriors and has figured in the NRL.

When asked in an interview with the Treize Mondial website about Gelling, Jouffret said: "Yes he is a player that we follow and with whom we discuss but it is not only him.

"We are in the period when the negotiations are growing and we still have 15 players at the of the contract."

Ex-Warriors Micky McIlorum and Lewis Tierney are at the Dragons and Sam Tomkins is moving to the south of France next season. It is not thought Wigan would be due any fee if Gelling moved to Catalans, as he would have been a free agent had he stayed at the club where he made his name.

Meanwhile, League Express has reported Wigan are leading the chase to bring Joe Greenwood back from Australia.

The former St Helens forward has fallen down the pecking order at Gold Coast Titans and is eyeing a return to Super League.

With John Bateman appearing destined for the NRL next season - Canberra remain favourites for his signature - Greenwood could add some strength to their squad in 2019.

Thomas Leuluai has been cleared to face Wakefield on Thursday after he was not charged by the RFL's match review panel for the tackle which saw him sinbinned at the Wolves.

Sam Tomkins was cautioned for raising a knee in a tackle, but has not been charged.
