Charges - but no bans - from Wigan Warriors-St Helens match

St Helens duo Jonny Lomax and James Graham have been given Grade A charges - but no suspensions - for incidents in last week's derby with Wigan.

And the match review panel has not cited Alex Walmsley for the challenge which led to Jack Wells limping off midway through the first half.

Wells suffered a dislocated kneecap and ligament damage in the tackle, ruling him out for the rest of this season, and coach Adrian Lam said he imagined the RFL's match review panel would scrutinise the incident.

But the MRP, which issues charges to players, ruled prop Walmsley made "initial contact on thigh" and "demonstrates wrapping motion towards both legs whilst maintaining control of own bodyweight. Players grip allows limb of opponent to rotate in contact as other tackler rotates opponent in contact."

Graham's Grade A Dangerous Contact charge relates to a 'crusher' in the same tackle (forcing Wells' head forward). Lomax's Grade A dangerous throw is for a tackle on Harry Rushton, for which he was sinbinned, but neither player will be banned.

Wells was playing his second game in five days but that return to the side had ended a three-year absence due to a foot injury.
