But he has pledged his future to Wigan with a deal that runs until the end of 2020.

He told the Wigan Observer: “I knew I could get more money elsewhere but I love it here - it’s a great club, a great culture, and I want to win things.

“I love the place and everyone has taken me in as one of their own.

“I thought long and hard about it.

“To move for more money... it weighed up to stay here, and that’s what I wanted.”

Flower’s partner is expecting their second child on Monday, which helped sway his decision to reject NRL interest.

“With another baby along the way, we want to be closer to family,” he said.

Coach Shaun Wane brought Flower to Wigan ahead of the 2012 season.

He said: “We believe that Ben is one of the best front-tow forwards in Super League and an integral part of the team and it’s great that this new deal has been agreed.

“Ben works hard on and off the field and is always looking to improve. We believe that he has his best years ahead of him and are delighted that those will be here at Wigan.

“Ben can now concentrate on playing to the best of his ability and helping the team achieve what we all want this year which is silverware.”
