And ex-Souths prop Burgess, a marquee recruit for this year, has been nursing a hip problem for the past few weeks.

“They’re both two weeks away,” said Lam.

“Tony got the clearance to get back into contact, so he’s happy about that. And George is about the same as well.

“Within one week, we’ll have Morgan Smithies back (from suspension), with Brad Singleton, Burgess and Clubb just after that, which is great. It’s exactly what we need at this time of the year.”

Forward Jack Wells, meanwhile, was having a scan today on the knee injury he suffered during Tuesday’s 42-0 loss to St Helens.

He had a suspected medial ligament tear, but Lam added: “If he dislocated his kneecap as well it could be up to three months, but we won’t know until we get the results.”
