The prop is set to play in the home match against Hull KR next Monday.

With the Warriors facing St Helens this Friday, coach Shaun Wane is planning on giving a clutch of his fringe players a chance three days later.

And Hamlin, 20, is one of those expected to step up. Wane said: “I know my team for Friday and I know my team for Monday.

“We’ll have some fresh faces who can give us some energy against Hull KR.

“Romain Navarrete and Liam Marshall deserve a game, and Gabe, too.

“I’m nearly looking forward to that game as much as Friday.”

Hamlin, 20, is a former South Sydney junior who joined the Warriors in the winter.

He has impressed Wane in training and in his matches for the reserves and in pre-season.

But the depth of competition for places has limited his first-team involvement to being 18th man.

French international Navarrete, another prop, has made only one appearance - against Wakefield - while winger Marshall scored five tries in his three appearances before he made way for Joe Burgess.
