The Warriors squad has been training since the season was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

They were at Robin Park on Monday but yesterday began observing the rules put in place by the government.

That means, for the next three weeks, the players must conduct their own training from home to stay on top of their fitness as they wait to discover when the campaign may get back underway.

And Lam says his staff will be giving players tailored sessions to complete as well as keeping track on their diet and weight during their enforced spells at home.

He said: “We’re constantly drawing up different plans because the situation changes all the time.

“First they were training, then they were in groups of five, and then this happens, the plan changes.

“And then there’s the restriction on going out for exercise once a day, the plan changes again – it’s difficult to nail it but that’s what we’ve got to deal with.

“We’re on top of how much training they’ll be doing. They’ll be working hard to maintain what they have built up over the pre-season, in terms of their fitness and their strength.

“We’ve also got a dietician who is monitoring what they’re eating, advising them, keeping tabs on their weight, so we’re confident they’ll all be in a good place when this is over.”

Though coaches won’t be able to keep a close eye on the players, Lam has no worries about them easing up.

“Being athletes, they can’t sit at home for two or three days doing nothing – I know these people, they just can’t,” he said.

Bevan French has already returned to Australia while Jackson Hastings has been told he can return, though he is staying in the UK for the meantime.
