The Australian has been training with his new team-mates for the last few days.

He knew Bevan French and Jackson Hastings from his junior days but they won’t be returning until next month.

And though he is the only ‘new’ face – given John Bateman has been at the club previously – Field is getting to grips with the Warriors way.

“The boys have been unreal and really welcoming and it’s made the transition pretty easy to be honest,” he said.

“Jackson and I are from the same area so we met up a few times back home.

“He told me I’d enjoy it, that the boys were really good and to come over with an open mind, which I’ve done.

“It’s been a bit different to what I’m used to, especially with the snow, but it’s been good.”

This is Field’s first time in England and the move has been made even more challenging by the lockdown measures.

But the ex-Parramatta and St George Illawarra ace said: “I’m kind of used to it.

“Last year, even though it’s more relaxed in Australia (with the restrictions) we were in an NRL bubble, so we lived as if we were in lockdown during the season anyway.”

Adrian Lam has yet to work out where Field will settle into his side, suggesting he may take a bench role when the campaign kicks off at the end of March as he finds his feet.

“I like to play in the halves but I’m happy to play where I’m needed, there are a few players in the spine here,” added Field.

“I just want to play some consistent footy, week in week out and if I can do that and the team goes well, that’s the main focus.”
