The towering forward struggled for game-time earlier this year and when the season was halted, he was on a two-month loan at Leeds.

He is now back as a Warriors player and has set himself a target of securing a starting back-row spot when the campaign finally resumes next month.

Greenwood didn’t get the chance to play for the Rhinos before the pandemic struck.

“It was out of my control but I did enjoy it there and I understood the reasons for going on loan,” the ex-St Helens and Gold Coast forward said.

“Everyone was fit at Wigan and they can only pick 17 players.

“But I’m back now and when it finally gets going, I want to play well, consistently and fight for the spot and that’s my target - to make that spot my own.”

Wigan’s management are still negotiating with leading players – and the GMB union – a wage cut for the rest of this season. It is hoped an agreement can be reached before they report back for training.

They were at Robin Park for their first round of Covid-19 tests on Tuesday and are scheduled to restart training on Monday, ahead of a restart on August 8 weekend.
