Reports Down Under have linked the Warriors with a move for the 31-year-old, who is set to leave Wests Tigers at the end of the year.

And while circumstances may change, those stories are thought to be presently wide of the mark.

Wigan are, though, close to agreeing a move for Jai Field.

A deal can't be completed - or confirmed - because he needs to play one more game to secure a visa; failing that, there are other options to navigate that red-tape.

The Parramatta speedster could be set to line-up in the halfback roles at the Warriors in 2021 if Jackson Hastings departs or Thomas Leuluai retires.

Field can also play at full-back, though Wigan haven't given up hope of persuading Bevan French to stay on amid strong interest from the NRL.

If French departs, the Warriors still have the option of reinstating Zak Hardaker to No.1, having moved him to centre this season.

The Warriors have already confirmed the signing of John Bateman on a marquee deal for 2021 while it is understood Toronto prop Brad Singleton will also join the club.
