Lebanon to be based in Leigh during rugby league World Cup

Leigh will be a base camp location for the Lebanon men's team in next year's World Cup tournament.

With 500 days to go until the start of the Rugby League World Cup 2021, organisers today revealed where the teams will be based.

And they confirmed Leigh will host the Lebanon men's side during the tournament.

Man United and England footballer Jesse Lingard earlier revealed England and Australia will both be based in Manchester. The men's final takes place at Old Trafford on November 27.

A women's and wheelchair tournament will run alongside the men's event.

Jon Dutton, RLWC2021 chief executive, said: “Today marks another hugely exciting milestone on the road to Rugby League World Cup 2021 as we celebrate 500 days until the opening fixture at St James' Park in October next year."
