The Warriors host Castleford on Thursday night at a venue they have played at just once in the last 13 months, the play-off victory against Hull FC last November.

Since last season resumed after the first lockdown, Wigan have played six matches at Leeds five at St Helens, three times at Warrington and twice at Salford.

And Lam sees their return home this week as a small step back towards normality, ahead of the relaxation of more Covid rules which is expected to see limited crowds return next month.

“Brilliant, absolutely brilliant,” he said.

“Just the thought of being back at home... Leeds has become our home ground these last few months! We’re used to the dressing rooms there.

“It’s exciting that we’re back home and getting closer to normality and can’t wait to see fans again as soon as we can.”

Season ticket holders will be given a pass to watch Thursday’s game, which kicks off at 6pm, on the OurLeague app and website. But non-season ticket holders will not be able to buy a pass.

Castleford hammered Leigh Centurions 52-16 on Friday night.

Lam, meanwhile, will speak to the media today when he is likely to confirm Bevan French will play against the Tigers – his first appearance of the year.
