Leeds moved to call the game off after one of their players displayed symptoms of the coronavirus, although a subsequent test proved to be negative.

RFL chief executive Ralph Rimmer told BBC Radio Five Live: "It [a sanction] is a possibility.

"We spoke with Leeds at some length this week on that particular issue. We've applied all the guidelines that the government asked us to observe, and Leeds took a unilateral decision not to travel to that fixture. That will follow due process now."

Meanwhile, The Guardian reported Super League is considering approaching Sky Sports with a proposal to show all its games live after cancellations because of coronavirus created gaps in the broadcaster’s schedules. Clubs will meet tomorrow to discuss whether to suspend the season - in line with many other sports - or continue as long as government allows.
