The livewire Aussie only moved to Wigan midway through last season after falling out of favour at the Eels.

But reports Down Under suggest coaches at the NRL club have been impressed with his form for the Warriors and are ready to hand him the No.1 role next season.

Wigan have already offered French a new contract in case he decides to extend his stay.

The 24-year-old has become a firm fans favourite for his electric displays and his exit would be a blow for the club and Super League.

Wigan have already signed Jai Field – who can play halfback or full-back – for next season.

Meanwhile, Wigan and the RFL have not revealed the outcome of the second round of Covid-19 tests, in wake of the three positives last week which forced Thursday’s game with Catalans to be postponed. Their next scheduled game is against Salford on Friday.
