The 24-year-old was formally released from the remainder of his contract at Gold Coast Titans a day after new coach Garth Brennan told the centre he wasn’t in his future plans.

Sarginson is reported to be on Wigan’s radar as a possible replacement for Anthony Gelling - if the Kiwi leaves the club.

Titans CEO Graham Annesley said: “Dan came to the club off the back of some excellent form in the English Super League but due to injury, he missed a large part of the 2017 season and was unable to produce his best for the Titans.

“Given the changes at the club over the past few months, Dan was given permission to look for opportunities to pursue his career elsewhere.

“He is a great character and I know the playing group have enjoyed having him around. Everyone at the Titans wishes Dan all the best for the future.”

Along with Wigan, Hull KR are reported to also be in the hunt for Sarginson’s signature.
