His current three-year deal expires at the end of this season.

Tautai says he is happy at Wigan but says his focus is on playing while his agent plots his future plans.

“To be honest, we’re still talking,” said Tautai.

“That’s what my manager does, I just play. I quite enjoy it here, I’m happy here, obviously I’m not getting younger... but that’s all my manager’s job.”

The Warriors are thought to be keen to keep him after seeing Tautai show steady improvement since his arrival from Wakefield.

Now 29, the ex-Parramatta and Cronulla player often makes an impact from the bench.

And Wigan fans will be hoping he can give his side some go-forward in their Magic Weekend showdown with Warrington on Saturday.

Tautai is a fan of the ‘on the road’ concept, which is taking place in Newcastle for a third successive season.

“I think it’s a great way to promote Super League,” said Tautai. “All the games over two days, it’s a good atmosphere.... it’s not like a final, but it’s pretty close to it.”

Wigan beat Warrington 38-16 earlier this year but Tautai said: “They’re not the same side as then, and we’re not either.

“Obviously we’re missing some maturity and experience, but we’ve got young kids who’ve come in and done really well for us.”

Wigan have already agreed an improved deal for George Williams this season, while young wingers Liam Marshall and Tom Davies this week agreed extended deals.

As well as Tautai, Sean O’Loughlin and Joel Tomkins are both out of contract at the end of this year.

Both have previously spoken of their hope of extending their playing deals before taking off-field roles with their hometown club.

O’Loughlin’s contract guaranteed him a coaching role when he hung up his boots.
