The winners from Wigan Warriors End of Season Gala Dinner with Jake Wardle rewarded for consistent season
In-form centre Jake Wardle picked up two major awards at Wigan Warriors’ End of Season Gala Dinner held at the Brick Community Stadium on Sunday.
The England international has enjoyed an outstanding season to date, having been the only member to retain his spot in the Super League Dream Team.
He also finished the regular campaign with the most assists for the Warriors, developing a dangerous left-edge partnership with winger Liam Marshall – who finished the regular season as the competition’s top try-scorer with 27.
Wardle, 25, was crowned the Players’ Player of the Year, and also voted Player of the Year by Wigan supporters.
Marshall was voted second for the Player of the Year award, with 20-year-old Junior Nsemba second.
The towering back-rower was crowned the club’s Young Player of the Year after an exceptional breakthrough campaign, with eight tries in 27 appearances in all competitions to date.
Enjoying a mighty debut campaign with the Cherry and Whites, prop forward Luke Thompson landed third spot for Players’ Player of the Year, with influential loose forward Kaide Ellis second.

Presented by legend Martin Offiah, the Try of the Season was won by superstar Bevan French for his brilliant individual effort in the 24-20 victory over Hull KR in Round 25.
The Junior Legend Award went to the inspirational George Hughes, who recently reached his target plus more of £100,000 for the Freeman Heart and Lung Transplant Association.
In the ultimate accolade of the afternoon, Professor Chris Brookes’ Chairman’s Award saw media and marketing manager Stewart Frodsham take to the stage.
