The 33-year-old has a neck injury which has ruled him out of Sunday's restart match against Wakefield at Leeds' Headingley.

Lam says it is too soon to tell whether it will rule out the prop - who had neck surgery in 2016 - for the bulk of this season or not.

"He has a bulging vertebrae in his neck, he's had an issue in the past and it's flared up," said the coach.

"We've got to take a precaution there, we'll probably know a bit more within a week.

"We're hoping he's going to be okay but there's always a chance he may have to have an operation or have time on the sideline to let that heal, and that could be six weeks to three months."

Clubb's absence means there are three props missing from Sunday's restart against Wakefield in Leeds - Ben Flower and Oli Partington have one and three match suspensions to serve.

But Lam still has plenty of options, with George Burgess, Mitch Clark, Joe Bullock, Liam Byrne and Ethan Havard among those in the mix.

Clubb, who is contracted to the end of next year, played in Wigan's 42-10 win at Huddersfield but missed the following two matches before the season was halted due to a shoulder injury.

Lam is also without centre Oliver Gildart for the next three or four weeks as he regains his strength following a shoulder operation in the off-season.
