The 29-year-old is out of favour at Canberra and keen to revive his career in Super League.

And the Warriors are understood to be close to securing his services, either immediately or at the end of the season.

St Helens have also shown interest in the prop, who has played 15 Tests for New Zealand since making his international debut in 2009.

He has racked up 184 appearances in the NRL with the Roosters and Raiders.

Shaun Wane has plenty of competition for front-row spots.

But only this week he admitted he is constantly looking to strengthen his squad in all areas, and hinted in his press conference he had the chance to recruit a prop.

Wigan are also thought to be front-runners to sign Thomas Leuluai for 2017.

Rugby manager Kris Radlinski was Down Under last week on a fact finding and recruitment trip.

Wigan are also hunting an outside back for next season.
