The utility-back was one game short of the criteria needed to obtain a visa until his appearance last weekend.

Had he not played, it would have been more complicated for Wigan to sign him.

But the fact he featured a 24-18 win against New Zealand Warriors means they can navigate much of the red tape and the visa process should be straight-forward.

Field, known for his speed, can play full-back or halfback.

And his capture will give Wigan more options as Bevan French weighs up his future.

Jackson Hastings is also set to leave at the end of this season, while Thomas Leuluai may join Sean O’Loughlin in retiring.

Wigan have already recruited John Bateman and Brad Singleton for 2021, though the latter's capture has not been confirmed.
