The Warriors trailed 10-4 approaching half-time but then turned the game on its head to rack up 38 unanswered points - including four tries while Aidan Sezer was in the sinbin.

Marshall bagged two of those - his second an audacious solo effort on the stroke of half-time - before adding his third, and the highlights weren't limited to the fancy attacks; George Burgess produced a physical and dominant display in his second appearance for the club.

Wigan impressed in a 26-12 victory against Hull FC last week but this was a step up, and the visiting fans in the 6,574 crowd must have been hugely impressed with their style, energy and cohesion.

New England coach Shaun Wane was at the Galpharm for a battle to decide who would move top of the early Super League table.

Burgess, who aggravated a hip injury in the season-opener, replaced Mitch Clark on the bench while Chris Hankinson was a straight swap for left centre Jake Bibby.

Adrian Lam predicted the marquee halfback duel between Jackson Hastings and Sezer would be one of the exciting subplots to the match but Harry Smith, who came on for injured Thomas Leuluai, also had a big say on proceedings.

Before the incredible turnaround, Willie Isa muscled over for an unconverted try in the 16th minute, sandwiching two Sezer penalties which made it 4-4.

The early exchanges were scrappy but the spectacle was fun to watch - all soundtracked the songs of the strong Warriors contingent.

Giants centres Jake Wardler and Jordan Turner both caused problems and helped the Giants dominate territorially midway through the first-half - leading to the hosts' first try.

Hooker Adam O'Brien darted from dummy-half and squeezed beyond Joe Bullock to cross. Sezer's conversion made it 10-4.

Ex-Souths prop Burgess came off the bench and his strong carries helped Wigan punch out of their own half. Sezer was sinbinned for a high tackle on Thomas Leuluai - which forced the Kiwi off - and it proved a significant moment, as from then Wigan conjured three incredible tries in five barmy minutes to take a 20-10 lead into the interval.

They spread the ball crisp and quick for Marshall to dive over and then poked in front when the hugely-influential Sam Powell rushed over - and still they weren't done.

From the restart, Marshall fielded the ball, advanced to the defence and hacked on. He blazed forward to regather and had the pace to go over in the corner. Hardaker added two conversions and - after the interval - they kept up where they had left off.

Smith kicked a 40-20 to force a repeat set and some crisp, quick hands allowed Dom Manfredi to sweep over in the corner. Sezer returned to the fold but Wigan remained in top-gear, and Smith's angled run created the space for Hankinson to send Marshall in for his third try.

Hardaker arrowed the goal from the touchline to make it 30-10 with half-an-hour to play. Huddersfield improved and Wardle went close to reducing the deficit but, as the game headed into the final quarter, the visitors extended their lead.

Marshall's quick 20m restart got them on a roll and prop Ollie Partington showed he has some skills and vision to add to his aggression, scooping the ball up from dummy-half and twice stepping to cross. Hardaker's goal made it 36-10.

The game was won but Lam's side didn't ease off. French repeatedly probed for an opening before Burgess crowned a fine display by powering over.
