Wigan Warriors confirm pre-season friendly

Wigan are on course for a reunion with several of their former stars next week when they play Salford in a pre-season friendly.

Adrian Lam's outfit will tackle their Super League rivals at the AJ Bell Stadium next Sunday, March 14, kick-off 4pm. It is their only planned pre-season game ahead of the start of the new season, against Leigh at Leeds on March 26. Their annual Capital Challenge against London Skolars was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Joe Burgess, Morgan Escare and Jack Wells have joined the Red Devils for 2021, joining ex-Warriors Dan Sarginson, Kevin Brown, Lee Mossop and Greg Burke at the club.

The friendly could see John Bateman play his first game for Wigan since leaving as a Grand Final winner in 2018.

It is taking place behind closed doors but the game will be broadcast live on the club's own subscription video service, Wigan TV.
