Wigan Warriors: Insight into home crowds including average, highest and lowest

Wigan Warriors saw an aggregate crowd of 190,629 at the DW Stadium throughout the 2023 campaign, including the semi-final win over Hull KR.

More than 1.5 million spectators attended a Super League match throughout the regular 2023 campaign, the first time in five years that figure has been reached.

It is the highest since the change in the competition format in 2019.

Wigan recorded an average crowd of 13,616 throughout 2023, including the 15,162 that attended the dominant home semi-final triumph to reach Old Trafford.

During the 2023 regular 27 round season, the Warriors saw an average attendance of 13,497, a 10% increase from last year’s figures.

This year’s Magic Weekend at St James’ Park, home to Newcastle United, recorded a total crowd of 63,269, including the fourth highest for a single day with 36,943 on the Saturday, where Warriors fell to a defeat to Catalans.

A bumper crowd of 24,275 saw Wigan run-out 14-6 winners on Good Friday against rivals St Helens, the highest attendance throughout the whole competition for a single fixture. It contributed to a record-breaking figure for a regular six-match round with 83,357, beating the previous record in Easter 2019 by around 4,000.The lowest home crowd came during round four against Catalans at 11,451, while 9,302 attended the Challenge Cup sixth round tie against Warrington Wolves at home.

Wakefield announced an attendance of 4,185 for their 27-26 win over the Warriors at Belle Vue, the lowest away crowd for Wigan in 2023.

Finally, 58,137 attended Old Trafford as Wigan claimed their first title in five years with a 10-2 win over Catalans Dragons.
