Adam Keighran absence explained as Wigan Warriors boss provides injury update

Adam Keighran was a notable absentee from the Wigan Warriors side that faced Leigh Leopards on Friday night

Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peet has provided an update on Adam Keighran, who was a notable absentee from the teamsheet for Friday’s clash with Leigh Leopards.

Keighran tweaked his groin when practising his goal-kicking after a training session this week, which will see him sidelined for around a fortnight of action.

Peet made just one change to his 17-man squad following last Friday’s derby win over St Helens, with youngster George O’Loughlin replacing Keighran in the 17. Noah Hodkinson came in to start on the wing, with Zach Eckersley filling the void left by Keighran at centre.

“It was after training, he was doing his regular goal-kicking practice, and he just tweaked his groin - he'll be out for two weeks,” Peet told Sky Sports.

“It provides an opportunity for Zach to play centre and Noah to wing.”
