Matt Peet’s praise for in-form Wigan Warriors ace - ‘He’s a high-quality player’
Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peet was full of praise for Adam Keighran, who has been in fine form this season
Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peet has hailed the form of Adam Keighran, describing the Australian as a ‘high-quality’ player following an impressive run of performances.

Keighran has been one of Wigan’s standout performers this season, scoring 10 tries and kicking 72 goals in 17 appearances across all competitions.
The 29-year-old centre also wrote his name into the record books at Wembley last month, scoring two tries and kicking six goals in Wigan’s 40-10 victory over Hull KR, equalling the record for the most points scored by an individual in a Challenge Cup final.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s trip to Wakefield Trinity, Peet praised Keighran, who he believes has been performing at a high level throughout the campaign.
“He’s playing really well,” said Peet. “I think he’s been good all season.
“At the beginning of the year, he was excellent, and he had a few disciplinary things, and they kind of overshadowed just how well he was playing.
“He’s a high-quality player, and he’s been good since he came here, so I’m not sure about comparisons, but I’m delighted with how he’s playing.
“He is a well-rounded centre - he can nail the front-foot silky moments, he can carry out of his own end, he is defensively very solid, and he is an outstanding goal-kicker as well, so there is a lot to him. He is an outstanding lad as well.”
Peet was also asked about the number of young players currently impressing in Wigan’s first-team, with the likes of Jack Farrimond, George Marsden, Noah Hodkinson and Taylor Kerr all stepping up during periods of adversity this season.
The Warriors boss believes the club’s pathway is continuing to produce players capable of making the jump into Super League, but insists they are always looking to improve.
“I just know we talk about how we can make it better,” he said.
“I know the owner (Mike Danson), Rads (Kris Radlinski, chief executive), Brookesy (Professor Chris Brookes, chairman) are constantly looking to improve it and invest and strengthen the pathway and improve relationships with local community clubs.
“It’s credit to the quality of the pathway and the community clubs who get these lads in such an able way to come through to Super League and perform, but it’s just about keep working hard and getting better.”
