Matt Peet’s Warriors will make the trip to the FLAIR Stadium in Dewsbury on Saturday afternoon to face Huddersfield Giants, whose usual John Smith’s Stadium home is hosting a Stereophonics concert that night. Wigan last played in Dewsbury in 2016, when Shaun Wane’s Warriors ran out 54-4 winners against the Rams in the sixth round of the Challenge Cup. Let’s take a throwback to the Wigan line-up that day, shall we?

5. Wing: Josh Charnley
Another homegrown product, Charnley scored 164 tries and kicked 103 goals in 172 games for the Warriors. The former England international had a couple of years in rugby union with Sale Sharks between 2016 and 2018 before returning to league with Warrington Wolves. After five seasons with the Wire, Charnley joined Leigh Leopards in 2022, where he still remains today. | Alex Whitehead/SWpix.com

6. Stand-off: George Williams
Williams came through the ranks at Wigan, going on to score 60 tries in 179 appearances for his hometown club. He spent two seasons in the NRL with Canberra Raiders between 2020 and 2021, before returning to Super League, with Warrington Wolves, where he still remains. | Chris Mangnall/SWpix.com

7. Scrum-half: Matty Smith
Smith scored 22 tries, kicked 304 goals and 25 drop goals in 139 appearances for Wigan between 2012 and 2016. He had spells with St Helens and Catalans Dragons in the latter stages of his career before ending his career with Widnes Vikings in 2021. The former England international coached St Helens Women between 2023 and 2024, and returned to the Warriors ahead of this year as academy coach. | Alex Whitehead/SWpix.com

8. Prop: Dom Crosby
Wigan-born Crosby made 102 appearances for the Warriors across six seasons between 2011 and 2016. He went on to play for Warrington Wolves and Leeds Rhinos, but his career was cut short by injury.
