Wigan Warriors publish latest financial accounts with significant losses posted
Wigan Warriors have posted their latest financial accounts
Wigan Warriors have published their accounts for the financial year ending in November 2025, with the club’s net liabilities increasing by around £4.6million from the previous year.

Earlier this week, Wigan Rugby League Club Limited published its annual financial accounts on Companies House.
The accounts show that the club’s net liabilities grew from £14,864,912 in 2024 to £19,469,489 in 2025, which is an increase of £4,604,577.
Meanwhile, the long-term liabilities have risen from £13,909,270 in 2024 to £19,519,717 in 2025, with loans from the club’s parent company, Wigan Sporting Club Limited, now amounting to £18,332m.
The Warriors’ current net liabilities sit at £1,807,223, which is down from £2,299,695 in 2024 - a decrease of £492,472. Cash at bank and in hand decreased from £366,547 to £138,245.
Wigan’s total fixed assets climbed to £1,857,451 in 2025 from £1,344,054 the previous year - an increase of £513,397.
Given the size of the company, Companies House guidelines state that the Warriors do not have to reveal their profits and losses.
The report on Companies House states that the parent company, Wigan Sporting Club Limited, is set to continue its funding into the club for the ‘foreseeable future’.
A section of Warriors’ report on Companies House reads: “The company remains reliant upon the continued financial support of its parent company, Wigan Sporting Club Limited, which has provided loan monies amounting to £18,332k, written assurances have been given that these monies will not become repayable within the foreseeable future.
“The following decisions and actions have been taken by the directors to manage the working capital requirements of the company: The Senior Management team are targeting revenue growth in all areas and are looking to control costs and overheads, where possible, whilst continuing to achieve a level of sporting excellence.
“Profit and loss and cashflow forecasts have been prepared for 2025/26, which indicate that, whilst operating losses may continue, working capital requirements will be met by additional loan financing from the parent company, Wigan Sporting Club Limited, who have confirmed their commitment to supply funding for the foreseeable future.
“Wigan Sporting Club Limited will in turn seek debt funding from it's ultimate shareholder.
“On this basis, the directors believe the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future and that it is therefore appropriate to prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis.”
The Warriors endured a rare trophyless campaign in 2025. This year, they have already won the Challenge Cup at Wembley and the League Leaders’ Shield, and are aiming to reach the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford next month.
