In March the four-piece’s self-titled debut album got to number 10 in the official UK charts and number two in the iTunes Charts.

And now, judging by the midweek sales figures, the group’s label is confident the group's latest release Sounds of Isolation is on track to repeat the trick.

The full-length CD is one of a number of projects the Lottery Winners have turned their hands to during the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Recorded separately in the musicians’ own homes, the album brings together some of the band members’ favourite tracks as well as some songs which conjure up a rousing spirit of togetherness and collective struggle for dark and uncertain times.

That means Sounds of Isolation combines The Lottery Winners performing their own takes on tracks by the likes of The Smiths and Joy Division with a rendition of We’ll Meet Again, made famous by Dame Vera Lynn and created around the 75th anniversary commemorations for VE Day marking the end of World War Two in Europe.

The album also includes the likes of Dreams by Fleetwood Mac, Jolene by country music megastar Dolly Parton and soul icon Marvin Gaye’s darkly brooding hit I Heard It Through The Grapevine all given the Lottery Winners treatment.

The band has been extremely busy during lockdown, curating a weekly Facebook Live show from their own living rooms called LWTV Live.

Appearances from a range of celebrity guests, such as pop legend Rick Astley, Frank Turner and Rowetta of the Happy Mondays and X Factor fame helped to make the programmes a huge hit with a large audience of avid watchers.

The group also raised thousands of pounds with the release of their single Love Will Keep Us Together for Beelieve, a pool of local mental health charities in the Greater Manchester area that provided help to those struggling during the pandemic.

The group has previously spoken of how the disappointment of losing out on a big summer of 2020 tour dates, including support slots with Kaiser Chiefs and McFly, summer festivals such as Glastonbury and Kendal Calling and a headline tour climaxing in the band’s biggest Manchester gig to date at The Ritz, spurred them on to work even harder during the Covid-19 health crisis and pandemic and keep going to make the most of the difficult situation.

The Lottery Winners also missed out on playing an outdoor gig at the University of Bolton Stadium.
