

The Wigan bands to watch in 2022 as the future of the local music scene looks brighter than ever
The stand-out moment was no doubt The Lathums reaching the top of the UK album charts with How Beautiful Life Can Be, but plenty of others are following in their footsteps.
A large number of bands have enjoyed their own successes in the last 12 months and have certainly made the best of pandemic life.
Here are some of the bands who are set to enjoy a big 2022.

5. Stanleys
For Stanleys, 2021 involved releasing their debut EP Look Back, embarking on their first-ever headline tour, and playing the main stage of Liverpool Sound City. They also enjoyed support slots at venues including the O2 Victoria Warehouse, the O2 Ritz and Kentish Town Forum. This year, the four-piece are set to release more new music for fans to enjoy. Lead singer Tom Concannon said: “We can’t wait to share the new stuff. I think it is the best we have written, and I hope it gives others as much joy as it has given me. “Progression is the main thing for us, we never want to stand still, we want to push ourselves.”

6. Casino Club
Casino Club started to find their feet as a band during 2021. After forming at the start of the pandemic, the four-piece were finally able to go out and perform as a full band. They also released two more singles, and took a step in the musical direction they wanted. The band are approaching the new year on the front foot and have announced they will release their Lose Control on January 28. As well as this, they have their first show of the year booked in, as they support Widnes band The Racket at the Boulevard on January 28.

7. The Lilacs
Despite not releasing any new tracks during 2021, the Lilacs enjoyed a fruitful 12 months. On Spotify they received 161.7k streams, as well as appearing at the Isle of Wight Festival and supporting the Sherlocks at Manchester’s Albert Hall. This year they are set to go on their debut headline tour, with six dates across March and April.
