Wigan musician finally releases debut album

Standish singer-songwriter Scott Peach, who makes music under the name Gpeacho, has brought out his debut full-length release of his acoustic indie-influenced tracks.

Called Long Time Coming, the album’s 10 tracks brings together more than a decade of Scott’s songwriting for his voice and guitar.

Although Scott had put videos for some of his songs on YouTube he hadn’t got further publicising his music than that until he had a conversation with Wigan DJ Stu Finch, known as MC Finchy, who offered his home studio to get them properly recorded and released.

Scott, 32, also revealed the poignant story behind his choice of name for his musical work.

He said: “When I put my videos on YouTube Stu said we would record them. He then texted me out of blue and we decided to do the recording.

“Doing music started about 12 or 13 years ago when I put my first couple of songs on YouTube. The channel I used was my dad’s and he was called Geoffrey Peach so Gpeacho became a thing with people calling me that as well.

“My dad is no longer with us any more so it’s nice to carry on the name.”

Scott says he is unsure which groups or musicians have particularly influenced his sound but cites Oasis and the Arctic Monkeys among his favourite acts.

The songs generally discuss his experiences and have quite clear messages and subject matter.

Scott said: “The latest one I wrote is called All You Lovely People. In a nutshell it’s about getting rid of all the bad people in your life and keeping all the good ones.

“There aren’t really any cryptic messages in my songs where you are unsure what they are about.

“There’s one called Pray for a Better Day which is about being rough from the day before, Let’s All Go and Breathe It which is about trying to find a better life and taking everybody with me, and there’s a couple of love songs on the album too.

“There’s So Rock ‘n’ Roll It Hurts, which is about being a weekend rock star. The guy in the song works nine-to-five then parties at the weekend.”

Scott is now hoping that, when the coronavirus restrictions allow, he will be able to play more live gigs, having only showcased his songs to an audience a few times before.

He also says the experience of being in the recording studio has inspired him to once again pick up his guitar and start writing new songs.
