Wigan musician's new single with Brazilian duo
Her latest work introduces listeners in the borough to the sounds of the South American dance scene.
Amy Burns, who performs under the name A Me B, is the featured vocal artist on Why, a single by Disorder.
DJs Luiz Moura and Saulo Silveira, who are from the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, got in touch with the Golborne musician after they began following each other on social media.
A Me B says she has become increasingly interested in the dance music sounds of South America and says Why, with its melancholy yet danceable feel and mixture of house styles, is a good example of it.
She said: “We worked together really well. I recorded the vocals at home and sent it over to them to mix and create the final version.
“I really like it, I think it’s my favourite thing I’ve done to date.
“It’s about a relationship that has run its course but no-one wants to confront that or admit it to each other so you are left feeling lonely.
“It has quite a melancholy feel so I wanted to reflect that in the lyrics.
“I’ve really gravitated towards the songs and artists on the Brazilian scene, it’s got a really cool vibe. The comments on Why from DJ magazines and video bloggers in Brazil have been great.”
A Me B says she and Disorder have also worked on several other tracks which she is hoping will get released at some point.
She has also been spreading the word about Brazilian dance music in her guest mixes and is continuing to put together tracks for radio stations while live performance continues to be restricted due to Covid-19.
A Me B said she would like to become more involved with the scene in the South American country, saying Disorder have already worked with a number of other artists from Brazil that she likes and admires.
She has even started learning a bit of Portuguese using the Duolingo app to try to communicate with her new fan base.
Why, by Disorder (feat. A Me B), is out now on Hub Records and available to hear on Spotify. For more information about A Me B’s music visit amebofficial.com
