Drinkers will be toasting the return of the Ashton Beer and Cider Festival next month
The popular Ashton Beer and Cider Festival is back this summer for its fifth year, promising another fantastic weekend of drinks, food, music and community spirit — all while raising money for a great local cause.
Organised by the 1st Ashton Scout Group and hosted at its premises on Edgerley Place, Ashton-in-Makerfield, the festival has grown year on year and is now firmly established as one of the area’s favourite community events.

This year’s festival will feature more than 40 beers, over 20 ciders, six gins, two proseccos, frozen cocktails and a wide range of non-alcoholic drinks.
Organisers have also expanded the selection of gluten-free beers available.
Visitors can enjoy both indoor and outdoor drinking areas, including what organisers proudly describe as the largest beer garden in Ashton, with plenty of seating available throughout the venue. And whatever the weather brings, there’s no need to worry, with large marquees ensuring the event can be enjoyed come rain or shine.
There will be live music on both Friday and Saturday evenings, creating the perfect festival atmosphere, while a variety of food vendors will keep everyone well fed throughout the weekend.
Thursday night will feature traditional pie and peas, Friday welcomes the popular Dagi Pizza Van, and Saturday will include both a fish and chip van and an ice cream truck.
Festival organisers say the event is all about bringing the local community together while supporting young people through Scouting activities.
Every penny raised from the festival goes directly to 1st Ashton Scout Group, a registered charity, helping to fund equipment, activities and opportunities for local children and young people.
Advance tickets are available online via Eventbrite, although tickets will also be available on the gate across the weekend. Admission prices vary on different days and whether booked in advance or on the door but admission includes a glass and programme.
A spokesman for the event said: “Whether you’re a real ale enthusiast, cider lover or simply looking for a great local event with friends and family, the Ashton Beer and Cider Festival promises something for everyone.”
It is held from June 4 to 6, running from 5pm to 11pm on the Thursday, 3pm to 11pm on the Friday and midday to 10pm on the Saturday.
