New research from Lottoland UK asked 2000 Brits which is their favourite board games of all time. Here is how the nation voted, from least to most popular:
1. Monopoly
First devised in the early 1900s, the long-standing family favourite reigns supreme at the top of a poll with 52.25%.
2. Scrabble
Scrabble is sold in 121 countries and is available in 29 languages; with approximately 150 million sets sold worldwide. Scrabble had 37% of the vote.
3. Trivial Pursuit
Since the arrival of the cheese wedge chasing game in 1981 there have been over 100 different editions in different languages printed. 27% of voters chose Trivial Pursuit.
4. Cluedo
This famous murder mystery games name is a play on the word 'clue' and 'Ludo', which is Latin for play.
5. Snakes & Ladders
The classic Snakes and Ladders is originally an ancient Indian board game played between two or more players.
6. Connect 4
Connect Four goes by various names across the world, including; Captain's Mistress, Four Up, Plot Four, Find Four, Four in a Row, Four in a Line, Drop Four, and Gravitrips.
6. Battleship
The game is known worldwide as a pencil and paper game which dates from World War I.
8. Ludo
The strategy board game for two to four players was discovered in India in the 6th century.
9. Jenga
The name jenga is derived from kujenga, a Swahili word which means "to build".
10. Twister
The initial concept was called "Kings Footsie", which unsurprisingly was rejected by the 3M Company. The game eventually hit the shelves in 1966.
