Best pantomime award for local theatre group
Leigh's Turnpike Community Theatre has won the prestigious Best Pantomime title at the National Operatic and Dramatic Association local awards.
The awards covered all NODA groups across the Bolton and Leigh areas and Turnpike walked away with the best pantomime award for their November production of Dick Whittington which was performed at the Turnpike Gallery in Leigh.
On the night, Andrea Peters also won the best supporting character in a pantomime award for her portrayal of Long John Tinfoil in the production.
Speaking after the awards, the production’s director, Hannah Boardman, said: “I am absolutely delighted that our entire cast and crew have been recognised with this award.
"Pantomime is the ultimate team effort, and every single person involved played a vital part in bringing Dick Whittington to life - from those on stage to those working tirelessly behind the scenes.
"This recognition makes all the hard work, long rehearsals and dedication truly worthwhile.
"I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together, and I’m so grateful to everyone who continues to support Turnpike Community Theatre.”
On the night, Anita Grace also won the award of best leading female in a drama for her truly stunning portrayal of Annie in the group’s summer 2025 production of Calendar Girls which raised much needed funds for Wigan and Leigh Hospice through the group's very own calendar.
Anita jointly won the same category alongside her co-star Kate Sweeney in the 2025 Bolton Amateur Theatre Societies awards in August.
The local performers will now represent the area in the North West regional awards in May.
