Beyond Survival: Wigan author brings people together through stories and hope
Natasha Amedi is helping those in Wigan who, like her, have suffered unimaginable bereavement
Grief, motherhood and starting again have shaped Wigan author Natasha Amadi’s life and she hopes that two new books she is bringing out will help others find a way forward.

Originally from Nigeria, Natasha is the author of Hope in Despair, which explores the loss of her child, faith and hope through grief, and 40 by 40: 40 (aka Things I wish I did more of before 40), which reflects on confidence, relationships, purpose and intentional living.
Through storytelling, she helps people recognise their strengths and consider what comes next.
She believes everyone has leadership, potential and purpose within them, and her work encourages people to discover those qualities and make progress despite adversity, self-doubt or the fear of leaving their comfort zone.
Her message “Beyond survival. Be more,” is supported by TAP: Think. Act. Progress.
Recently Natasha brought people together at Wigan Library for From Potential to Progress: Honouring Our Roots, a Black History Month event celebrating heritage, sharing inspiring stories and building connections.

She later delivered Leadership Is in You to Year 6 pupils at Platt Bridge Primary School, exploring confidence, finding your voice and showing leadership through everyday choices.
Having also met readers at a Meet the Local Author event at Waterstones in Wigan’s Grand Arcade, she is developing further school and college outreach around the themes of her books.
Alongside her writing and speaking, Natasha founded Be More Initiative CIC to create opportunities for personal growth, inclusion and community connection.
Its upcoming women-only Afrobeat Dance for Fitness programme will provide a welcoming space to dance, stay active, support wellbeing and build friendships.
The six-week programme runs at Sunshine House, Wellington Street, Scholes, from Saturday November 7 to Saturday December 12.
Across these activities, Natasha aims to help people recognise their strengths, support their mental wellbeing and build the confidence to pursue what comes next, while navigating life’s challenges and working towards their potential.
