Leigh cinema to host powerful nuclear legacy documentary with director Q&A

A Leigh cinema is set to host a powerful documentary screening next month, exploring the long-term impact of nuclear weapons testing on British families.

Leigh Film Factory will screen Our Planet, The People, My Blood on Friday, May 15, followed by a live Q&A with director Daniel Everitt-Lock.

The film tells the story of campaigner Alan Owen, whose family has been affected by Britain’s nuclear testing programme.

It highlights how the effects of radiation exposure have continued across generations, and the ongoing fight for recognition and support.

The screening follows the film’s recent world premiere at the Prince Charles Cinema, with further special event screenings taking place at venues including FACT Liverpool and Mockingbird Cinema.

A spokesperson for Leigh Film Factory said: “It’s not always an easy watch, but it’s an important one.

“Having the director here means audiences can really engage with the story and ask their own questions.”
