Members of St Teresa’s RC Primary School’s Eco-Council joined the local environmental group Cleaner Greener Up Holland for a litter-picking session at the community’ park.

The day began with an assembly led by volunteer Gill Sinnott, who spoke to pupils about the importance of caring for the environment and keeping our community clean.

Following the assembly, volunteers accompanied a group of children on a litter-pick in the park.

The activity helped pupils learn about the importance of caring for God’s creation and protecting the environment, which is a key part of the school’s Catholic social teaching.

A school spokesperson said: “By working together to keep their community clean and safe, the children developed a greater understanding of their responsibility to care for the world around them.

This initiative forms part of the school’s ongoing commitment to sustainability as they work towards achieving the prestigious Green Flag Award.”
