Wigan Sea Cadets taking pride in their community on Earth Day
Members of Wigan Sea Cadets demonstrated their commitment to the local community by taking part in a litter picking initiative to mark Earth Day.
Big-hearted youngsters from Wigan Sea Cadets marked Earth Day by tidying up their community.

The event saw young people volunteer their time to help clean up areas of Wigan, showing pride in the place they live while making a positive difference to the local environment.
Community engagement forms an important part of the Sea Cadet training programme, helping cadets to develop valuable life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, and leadership.
Activities like this not only support the local area but also give young people a deeper understanding of the impact they can have within their communities.

Alongside learning maritime skills and disciplines inspired by the Royal Navy, cadets are encouraged to take part in projects that build character and promote civic pride.
The Earth Day litter pick was just one example of how cadets apply these values beyond their training, contributing positively to society.
A spokesperson for the cadets said: “The unit has expressed pride in all those who took part, highlighting the dedication shown by cadets who gave up their time to help improve their local surroundings.
“Their efforts stand as a strong example of the positive role young people continue to play across the Wigan community.”
