Burger King announces three north west branches to reopen as lockdown eases

Burger King has announced it is to reopen three of its restaurants in the north west as part of the chain’s phased reopening nationwide.

The restaurants at Rivington North Services on the M61 near Chorley, Ravenhead Retail Park in St Helens and Bamber Bridge, Preston. The branches in St Helens and Bamber Bridge will be open for delivery and drive thru only, while the Rivington North Services will be open for takeaway at the counter only, from noon to 11pm. Customers will be able to place their orders via Deliveroo/Just Eat/Drive Thru.

The opening is part of Burger King’s phased re-opening plan with 40 restaurants set to re-open per week from this week. By the end of June, Burger King is working towards re-opening 350 restaurants, 68 per cent of the total in the UK.

A spokesperson said: “Safety is Burger King’s number one priority, and to enable restaurants to continue to re-open a number of procedures have been put in place to safeguard the health of both Burger King employees and customers, following detailed operational testing.

“These include additional PPE such as masks and gloves for staff, stringent cleaning measures, contactless delivery options via Deliveroo and Just Eat and all Burger King staff comprehensively trained on the Government’s social distancing measures – including how to run kitchens hygienically, whilst abiding by them.”

Although the delivery-only service will mean customers won’t be able to access the full Burger King menu, popular items such as the Chicken Royale, Bacon Double Cheeseburger and Whopper will all be available to order.

Katie Evans, Marketing Director at Burger King UK added: “We are so pleased to be able to open more restaurants this week and slowly but surely get back to ‘normal’, ensuring all safety measures are in place.”
