However, having run a similar scheme in spring the pub is expecting the highest level of demand to be for its Sunday roast dinners.

Anyone living within five miles of the Bridge Street venue will be able to place an order and either arrange to pick up their food or have it brought to them at home.

The Queen Anne owner Chris Darnbrough said: “When we did this during the first lockdown people went mad for the Sunday dinners. We were delivering loads of roasts.”

Chris admits that this year has been an incredibly challenging time to be in the hospitality trade as places serving food and drink have battled a number of different restrictions on business.

However, he is looking to keep the pub’s profile up by continuing to work during the second lockdown.

He said: “Difficult would be an understatement. It is hard work and it has got harder and harder as they’ve squeezed the restrictions tighter and tighter.

“The regulations have probably cut our trade by about 80 per cent.

“Our older clientele have stopped coming, distancing means we’ve had to cut our table numbers and then people haven’t been able to come out for a meal or drinks with friends.

“Offering the takeaways is about keeping going and ticking over. It’s about keeping in touch with the customers and the community. People enjoy our food and they rely on us.

“We’re hoping case numbers will go down enough that after lockdown we can go into tier two, then tier one, and then back to normality.”
