Aldi electricians fitted the box outside the Standish store recently much to the delight of residents.

The new box has been installed after the community rallied together to raise money after the old one was vandalised last year.

Standish councillor Debbie Parkinson set-up a Just Giving page requesting for funds to buy a new box.

It saw more than £800 raised, with one resident paying half in memory of loved ones.

The remaining funds have come from the Just Giving page and Brighter Borough funding.

Coun Parkinson said: “The box was mindlessly vandalised just before Christmas and the new one has been installed in the same place.

“The defibrillator itself was kept and is now live on the 999 system with the North West Ambulance Service reinstating it.

“This is fabulous news and it will help save lives of people .”
