Pupils, parents and staff were relieved to finally have their marks after a long and nervous wait to see what all their hard work and efforts had resulted in.

Archie Laybats, 16, from Shevington, said: “I’m really pleased with what I got in history – I got a seven – and in tech, I got a six. I’m going to go to John Rigby to do science.”

Emily Curr, 16, from Appley Bridge, said: “I got more eights than I thought I would. I got eight in history, art and design and technology. I want to go to Runshaw to study physics, geology and textiles.”

Warren Cross, 16, from Beech Hill, said: “I passed them all, I’m so happy. I got a seven in English, I did much better than I thought. I’m going to call my mum now and then get some sleep. I’ve been so nervous leading up to this. I’m hoping to go to John Rigby.”

Eve Roberts, 16, from Shevington, said: “I’m really proud of my grade for Mandarin, I got a nine. I plan to go to Runshaw and study maths, economics and biology.”

A spokesman for the school said: “We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to our 2022 leavers on their wonderful exam results, and wish each pupil every success in the future.
