Wigan hospital investigating complaint over lack of disabled parking
Wigan Today understands the complaint alleges a couple of disabled parking areas around the complex were reallocated to construction vehicles, with a cabin for overseeing building work also built at one location.
This left the visitor with just one space around the entire site marked as suitable for motorists or passengers with disabilities.

WWL has confirmed it has launched an official probe into the matter.
A spokesperson for the Trust said: “Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust always welcome the views of people who have experienced the use of our services.
“All complaints provide us with an opportunity to review and improve and we encourage all our patients, their relatives or their carers to provide us with feedback about their experiences or on areas we need to improve.

“Any findings from the investigations are shared with the person raising the concerns as and when appropriate.
“However, when a complaint is active, the Trust is unable to comment on any individual case.”
It is understood the service user eventually had to leave their vehicle at a car park a short distance away from the hospital as nearby on-street parking was also full.
Some car parking space at Wigan Infirmary has also been taken up by the new Covid-19 ward built this year.
