Frontline workers have been left covered with bruises and sores after wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), such as face masks, for hours at a time during their gruelling shifts.

Nikki Forrest, a Body Shop consultant from Beech Hill, wants to do something about this.

She has launched a fund-raiser to provide face creams and other cosmetic items such as hand creams, lip balms and soaps to help the NHS workers take care of themselves during their efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nikki said: “This is the reality and impact that the pandemic is having on our wonderful NHS heroes. Their hands are sore, cracked and dry, their faces cut and bruised, their feet, backs and whole bodies are breaking but they keep going!

“As a Body Shop at Home consultant, I find myself in a place to be able to help our amazing NHS heroes! I want to get as many soaps, shower gels, hand creams, lip balms, skin care products etc to put into care packages to help them through this crisis!

“To do that we need help. These will be split between Wigan Hospital and Southport Hospital where they have set up and End of Life Care ward for Covid-19 patients who sadly wont be able to beat this.”
