Prospect Homes says interest in its new Brook View development, on Bettison Avenue, Leigh, has been “fantastic”, putting the success down to its location and open-plan layouts of the planned homes.

The 57-property scheme was granted planning permission by Wigan Council last year, despite concerns from people living nearby that it would bring traffic chaos.

In a report to councillors, recommending approval of the scheme, planning officers said: “It will provide a high-quality residential development within a sustainable location and make a contribution to short-term housing need in the borough.”

And Prospect says interest has been strong, particularly as purchasing a home early on in the build stages means buyers “get a blank canvas and have the opportunity to really make the house their own”.

It says there has already been eight reservations and 12 ‘early birds’, where buyers have secured a home before it is released.

Sam Williams, Prospect head of sales, said: “The amount of interest we’ve had since launching Brook View has been fantastic.

“Despite not having our show home open just yet, it seems people are loving the idea of the opportunities buying a new build brings and buying a home off-plan certainly has its benefits too.”

“Customers not only have pick of the plots, but they can also choose everything from kitchen worktops and units to the tiles in the bathrooms.

“When customers complete, they can move in straight away and don’t have the added cost of doing home improvements like you would if you were buying an older property.”

Current availability includes three and four-bedroom detached homes, priced from £220,000.

Prospect said its Herriot-style home, priced at £220,000, is eligible under the new Help to Buy scheme, so can be secured with as little as a 5 per cent deposit, while shared ownership options will soon be available at the development.

A Prospect spokesman said: “When buying a Prospect Home, customers are buying a home for good as all the profits from the sales of Prospect homes are invested into The Riverside Group to finance its social value work and support some of the most vulnerable in the community.”
