Hide AdProsecuting, Adrian Hollamby, said: “They left their home with a pram but the little girl was holding her mother’s hand and the boy was walking ahead.
“The dog appeared at the bottom of the ginnel. Seeing the dog was not on a lead she shouted to her son who came back to her. She waited to see if it would come back.
“She could see it was heading for the little girl and picked her up. As she did the dog bit her face. She shouted for her partner. The dog was still walking around her. Her partner was screaming at the dog and it eventually backed off.”
The child was taken to A&E and was given antibiotics. It is understood the dog’s fate will be decided on October 19.
