Bolton Coroners’ Court confirmed the man recovered from the water earlier this month was 44-year-old Peter Curphey, who had been missing since March 16.

Emergency services received a report of a body in the canal close to Horton Street, Wigan at 3.40pm on Monday April 11.

Police concluded that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. An inquest has yet to open.
