Council bids to oust travellers from playing fields

Wigan Council is launching legal proceedings to move travellers from Wigan parkland.

Travellers have set up camp on an area near the children's playground off William Foster playing fields, Canal Street, off The Grove, Ince

Around 10 caravans and trailers have taken up residence on the William Fosters Playing Fields off The Grove at Ince.

A council spokesman said: “We are aware of the travellers on the site and we have launched legal proceedings to remove them from the site.”

This is not the first time travellers have camped out on land in the borough recently. Earlier this month it was reported on the car park of Pennington Flash.
