Banned driver who got behind the wheel after taking cocaine is given a suspended prison sentence

Magistrates imposed a suspended sentence and a lengthy driving ban.

A drug-driver who was already banned from the roads when he got behind the wheel has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Philip Nightingale, 43, of Warrington Road, Worsley Mesnes, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Fiesta on Broom Road, Worsley Hall, on March 28 while disqualified and while over the specified limit for cocaine.

He also admitted driving without insurance and being in possession of class B drug amphetamine.

Wigan magistrates imposed a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and ordered him to do six months of drug rehabilitation and 14 days of rehabilitation activities.

He was disqualified from driving for 52 months and must pay £85 prosecution costs.
