Child sex abuser is jailed for five years

A young man cleared of raping two infant school-aged girls, but convicted of sexually assaulting them, has been jailed.

Paul Grime had been charged with three counts of raping a six-year-old and one of assaulting her by penetration, between July 5 2016 and July 4 2017.

The 27-year-old, of Everest Road, Atherton, also faced a charge of raping a five-year-old girl during the same time period.

After a seven-day trial at Bolton Crown Court, Grime was found not guilty of the rapes, but the jury returned guilty verdicts to alternative charges of sexual assault.

Grime was jailed for five years. He must also sign on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely and also has an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order against him.
